It’s been a good start to the year for Think Bingo as they’ve been name the 2007 Bingo site of the year by bingo portal Which Bingo. The awards are voted by bingo players and Think Bingo have jumped from 4th in 2006 to take the title in 2007. 2006’s winner Mecca Bingo dropped to 4th, whilst Bingo Mania and Crown Bingo took 2nd and 3rd.

Surprisingly to Bingo Blog, Jackpotjoy only made 14th, Foxy Bingo stuttered in at 16th, The Sun Bingo made 18th and Gala Bingo popped up in at 24th!

So why are Think Bingo number one? Do they have the most promotions? The biggest prizes? The most players? Or did they simply mobilise their userbase to vote for them (via their 5000 user strong forum) whilst the bigger sites opted not too?

Player votes for any awards are always skewed, and whilst there’s no doubt Think Bingo is an excellent bingo site, and congratulations to them for winning, is it really the best? Is Crown Bingo really the 3rd best bingo site? In our experience it doesn’t attract many players! Perhaps we’re missing something, but there’s no way it’s 11 places better than Jackpotjoy, or 21 places better than Gala Bingo online!

These awards are all about who’s not voting as opposed to who is voting. But, as with X-Factor, if you didn’t vote for Rhydian then you can’t complain that Leon is still number one. However, devising a fair voting system based on user votes is perhaps impossible to do! Some sites will lobby for votes, others won’t - and if asked by their CM most loyal bingo players would probably vote accordingly.

Still, the awards are a bit of fun and earn kudos to those sites that are successful (and a great bit of promotion for Which Bingo). It will be interesting to see how the votes go next year!
