888 Ladies – A Shooting Star in 2008?
888 Ladies launched their bingo site using Shooting Stars star Vic Reeves in February 2008 and a £10 free bingo offer. Many expected 888 Ladies to take the bingo world by storm and if it wasn’t for Wink Bingo then they may well be collecting a New Bingo Site of 2008 award.
We’ve always been a bit concerned about how 888 Ladies aims itself at, well ladies, and it may not appeal to the guys (interestingly a new bingo site called Bingo Bloke has recently launched aimed at offering blokes a place to play bingo), however that doesn’t seem to have stopped them from being a success in 2008!
Earlier in the year 888 attracted players with a £10 free bingo no deposit offer plus a multitude of competitions. Sex and the City movie tickets, Kylie tickets, Royal Ascot tickets and even Big Brother eviction tickets have been given away in 2008 at 888 Ladies.
The highlight of the year for 888 in competition prize terms though must be their advent calendar competition. 24 great prizes were offered – one a day on the run up to Christmas – with a star prize of a Mazda 2.0 Car.
As well as prizes there’s also been cash prizes too. A number of players have won the £8,888 Guaranteed Jackpot whilst a £7407.71 progressive jackpot was won in November 2008 (there have been other winners of course, but this was the highest progressive win in 2008).
888 continue to build on their success! They have recently added a blog called Pink My Ride to complement a magazine section. A horoscope game offering a prize of a personalised chart from Russell Grant has also recently been added.
As with Wink we do fear for the £10 free bingo bonus in 2009. It’s an extra incentive to attract new players that if lost would mean they’d need to sustain (and build on) their community promotions and competitions in order to be appealing. It’ll also be interesting to see whether Vic Reeves continues to be the face of 888 Ladies!
All in all it’s been a good year for 888 Ladies, the only thing that stopped it being a great year was Wink Bingo!
