Foxy Bingo – Best Bingo Moment In 2008?
2008 was one hell of a busy year for Foxy Bingo! They changed the fox, dropped Jordan, picked up Jeremy, offered free bingo, dropped free bingo, went on a cruise and even paid out £50,000 when the prize was meant to be £500. They even featured in a list of most recognised tv adverts and remain one of the UK’s most popular bingo sites.
The year started with Foxy deciding to drop the celebrity endorsement of Jordan (not a bad move in hindsight) and focus on their Foxy character. They even gave the fox a bit of a much needed makeover. Out went the Leslie Phillips-esque character and in came a Harry Hill Pimped Up Foxy (described as all Tony Manero by TV’s Worst Adverts).
As well as a new TV advert, featuring Sister Sledge and a huge crowd (something that would be “borrowed” by other bingo sites), Foxy also became the sponsor of The Jeremy Kyle Show and Guilty Pleasures (TV sponsorship would also be “borrowed” by other bingo sites too).
June 2008 saw Foxy celebrate their third birthday and to celebrate they offered their players the chance to win a brand new car (something else that would be “borrowed” by other bingo sites later in the year). However, the price for this media exposure and promotions was the loss of the £10 no deposit bonus.
Free bingo hasn’t gone for good at Foxy and they’ve run occasional free bingo weeks, which have proven to be very popular! We’d be surprised if they returned to offering a no deposit bonus. Other bingo sites run by Cashcade, the owners of Foxy, have recently dropped the no deposit bonus and it’s evident that other bingo operators are now switching to more deposit bonus related offers.
In fact the underlying trend in 2008 for Foxy Bingo is that they led the way and other bingo sites followed. The highlight of the year for Foxy though came in May 2008 when they paid out £50000 Cash! Due to a backend error a £500 coverall game was advertised as a £50,000 jackpot game.
