Gala Bingo Increases Link Games To Benefit Sure Ryder Charity
Gala Bingo is increasing the number of charity games on its leading online bingo site to help raise £1.5million for Sue Ryder Care. After smashing its initial target to raise £1m for the charity in 2009, Gala Coral Group has pledged to raise a further £500k this year.
As part of numerous fundraising initiatives across the group, from this week the dedicated Sue Ryder Care ‘Link Game’ will now take place daily at 7.24pm in 11 of the 90-ball online bingo clubs rather than once a week on a Tuesday evening. Ten per cent of ticket sales from the fundraising games will go towards helping the charity, which provides expert and compassionate care to people living with conditions including cancer, multiple sclerosis, stroke and Huntington’s Disease.
This initiative follows hot on the heels of the award-winning ‘Mrs Obama’s Bingo’ campaign, which saw the bingo site raise £10k for Sue Ryder Care by harnessing media and public interest during the inauguration of Barack Obama by enlisting the help of his bingo loving step mother, Kezia Obama.
It also follows numerous internal fundraising activities, which have seen Gala Coral staff hold various collections and fundraising events including a ‘Back to the Floor’ event which saw the senior management team host an evening in the Woking Gala Bingo club and 25 dedicated employees climbing to Everest Base Camp to play the world’s highest ever game of bingo.

Sue Ryder Care became Gala Coral Group’s nominated charity following an employee vote in May 2008.
