Gala Bingo – Was It a Gala Year In 2008?
2008 wasn’t a bad year for Gala Bingo. They pulled new promotions out the bag including prize bingo games, offered a better sign up bonus and even had regular free bingo days, plus they stuck with their celebrity endorsement of Sharon Osbourne too.
The year kicked off with a free bingo day and that has been the main feature of Gala’s 2008. What started as a monthly special became a weekly event, and even for a time a bi-weekly event! They now giveaway £10000 every week in their free bingo Thursday games!
Gala did resist the no deposit bonus option, but to be competitive they started offering players £20 free when they made just a £5 deposit. This is one of the best (if not the best) deposit bonuses on offer in bingo land! We don’t know whether this offer will be maintained during 2009 – Gala did drop it for a period late in 2008 only to reintroduce it in November 2008.
If there was a bingo award for most boastful bingo site in 2008 then Gala would win hands down. They have a winner every 10 seconds, giveaway £80million a month (more than any other bingo site) and by September 2008 had paid out over a billion bingo pounds to over 5million winners! Disappointingly though they have dropped their winners page from the bingo site – replacing it with the last 5 winners details on the home page.
Last year we called for more promotions from Gala Bingo – and they have delivered. From free bingo days to BOGOF bingo and everyone’s a winner (albeit only 50p) bingo there’s been something new every week. We’ve especially like the fact that they’ve started running prize bingo games too!
The one question mark hanging over Gala was Sharon Osbourne! Celebrity endorsements can add something extra to a bingo site, but what exactly was she there for? The former X-Factor judge’s face used to appear on the site until the launched of the new Splash the Cash Campaign suggesting that Sharon is no longer part of the set up.
All in all a steady year for Gala Bingo, some highlights but perhaps nothing too dramatic compared to the likes of Wink Bingo and Foxy Bingo. We’d like to see more excitement from them in 2009!
