Wink Bingo Win Helps Winner’s Life Saving Hospital
Here’s a fantastic winner’s story from Wink Bingo to kick off March! One of their player’s has donated part of her winnings to the hospital that saved her daughter’s life. Myra Carbin, of Camp Hill, Northampton had won £25,000 with the Wink Bingo Big O promotion last year in September.
Six years ago, Myra’s daughter Niave, who was then only four weeks old was diagnosed with a heart problem by the NGH doctors and was given a few hours to live. She was immediately transferred to John Radcliffe Hospital where the doctor’s performed life saving surgery on her. Myra had made a vow to repay the doctors some day and her win on Wink Bingo last year made it possible for her to keep her promise.
Niave was diagnosed with a heart condition – her heart was pumping blood in the wrong direction and only an emergency bypass operation could have helped her. The doctors at John Radcliffe Hospital worked tirelessly to save the infant who made a full recovery in the hospital’s paediatric intensive care unit.
Myra recalls that fateful day, “We said on that day that if we ever got the chance, we’d give something back to them.” After her £25,000 bingo jackpot win she could finally make her dream come true and her thoughtful donation to the hospital will now help other babies in need of care. Her donation has bought a machine worth £700 which automatically injects medication into babies at timed intervals which frees up the nurses to provide more care.
“After the win we remembered how each piece of equipment had a little plaque on saying who had donated it so we thought that would be perfect. They use so many of the machines that we hope a new one will be a good help to them,” says Myra happily.
She used part of her bingo jackpot money to treat her family to a trip to Disneyland Paris and some of the money to renovate her house. She said, “The fact that it was so unexpected persuaded my husband and we should do enjoy it and do good things with it too. Being able to help John Radcliffe Hospital is just the icing on the cake”.
